Sir Jimmy Shand has become a rave sensation in Europe after one of his classic tunes topped the dance charts in Germany.
The Linton Ploughman, based on The Muckin’ O’ Geordie’s Byre, has been turned into a dance track by Bellshill DJ Stevie Lennon.
Shander, has hit number one in Germany’s Top 100 Club Download chart.
The 33-year-old DJ, said: "Hopefully the rest of the world will follow. It puts a bit of fun back into clubbing and it’s brilliant bringing Jimmy Shand to a modern audience.
"I’ve been a fan of Jimmy Shand for years and I made the track originally for myself. But I saw more than 1000 people doing the Highland fling to it at Stereofunk festival this year, and that’s when I thought I'd try to get it released."
Sir Jimmy sold millions of records in a 70-year career, playing Carnegie Hall in New York and making the UK Top 20 with The Bluebell Polka in 1955.
He died in 2000, aged 92. A statue in his honour stands in his home town of Auchtermuchty in Fife.
