Karen appeared in the second series of The Apprentice and has since build a successful career in the media and as a businesswoman. Her early departure from the The Apprentice proved to be one of the most talked about incidents of the second series when she was dismissed by Sir Alan on the grounds that he didn't need another corporate lawyer. Karen disputes this, saying that she has never worked as a corporate lawyer but nonetheless acknowledges that participating in the series gave her the impetus to work as her own boss.
A business correspondent for Talk 107, the working mum is the winner of a "Young Entrepreneurial Company of the Year award" for her boutique, KarenB which is based in Broughty Ferry, Dundee.
The business, which opened in the summer of 2007 and made £1/4 million turnover in the first year, was also nominated Most Promising UK company.
