John MacKay is the anchor of the STV News at Six. He joined STV fifteen years ago as a news reporter after several years working at BBC Scotland on both radio and television.
John has covered most of the major stories in Scotland over the last twenty years, including the creation of the Scottish Parliament, the Lockerbie bombing and the Dunblane shootings. He has also covered great sporting occasions such as Celtic and Rangers’ appearances in European Finals.
His reports for STV News have taken him to the United States, and across Europe.
He also produces a daily video blog which provides a quirky, behind-the-scenes view of the STV News operation.
John is a best selling author of three novels set in the Scottish Hebrides, and he is currently working on a fourth.
