(STV Central Limited and STV North Limited together is hereafter referred to as “STV”)
1. Any person who is an employee or an immediate family member of an employee of STV or any other person who is directly connected with the organisation of any particular competition or vote is ineligible to participate. The Greatest Scot vote is open to all UK and world-wide residents of any age.
2. By placing a vote, participants will be deemed to have read and understood these rules and be bound by them.
3. Voting is open to all residents of the UK, Channel Islands Isle of Man and all international countries.
4. Voting is open to all ages. Any voters under the age of 16 must have permission from their parent or guardian before placing their vote via premium rate telephone.
5. All decisions of STV will be final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into.
6. All votes received by STV by the closing date and time as specified will only be included. No responsibility will be taken by STV for any votes that are illegible, misdirected, lost for technical or other reasons or received after the closing date and time.
7. If for any reason the advertised prize for the Greatest Scot competition is unavailable STV reserves the right at its absolute discretion to substitute a similar prize of equivalent or greater value.
8. The Competition Framework for The Greatest Scot: The Greatest Scot will be chosen from a list of 35 candidates. 30 of this list were chosen by a select panel, arranged by STV, and the remaining5, the peoples choice, were voted by the public on stv.tv. STV will be showcasing all of the contenders within the 5-part programme series The Greatest Scot broadcast from 9 to 16 November and repeated from 16 to 20 November on STV. The list of all 35 contestants will be made available at stv.tv/greatestscot from 9am, 9 November until midnight 22 November. Viewers are invited to vote for their favourite either online on stv.tv/greatestscot or by telephone, and the candidate with the highest number of votes will be crowned STV's Greatest Scot.
9. The Prize: The Greatest Scot winner will be announced on STV within the Greatest Scot Results Programme, on 30th November 2009, and the winner will be marked with a permanent piece of contemporary art by a Scottish artist, which will be donated to the nation.
10. Voting Rules: The voting period for the Greatest Scot is 9am, 9th November until midnight on 22 November 2009. 35 candidates in total will be available for the public vote, and these will be outlined on stv.tv/greatestscot during the voting period. Two voting routes will be in place to collate the votes. Voting Route One - online at stv.tv/greatestscot. Voting Route Two - premium rate telephone. Both voting routes (online and telephone) will be open and live to collect votes from 9am, 9th November until midnight on 22 November 2009. Anyone with access to a telephone or the internet can vote. Voters who wish to place their vote by phone, and who do not pay for the line rental, must obtain permission for the line owner before making their call. All online voters will have to log in or register on STV.TV in order to place their vote during the voting period. Details on how to register are provided on stv.tv/greatestscot. A maximum of one online vote per person (identified by e-mail address) will be accepted.
For telephone votes, the IVR premium rate telephone number to vote for each candidate will be printed in the Daily Record newspaper on 14th and 21st November and will be available to view for the voting period at stv.tv/greatestscot. The telephone lines will be open from 9am, 9 November and will close at midnight on 22nd November. Telephone calls will cost 50p per call from BT landlines plus standard network rates. Calls from other networks may be higher and calls from mobiles will be considerably more. Calls received after the closing date and time will not be counted and if charged, will be refunded. A maximum of 100 phone votes is allowed per phone number. Each Greatest Scot candidate will have an unique IVR premium rate number that will record all votes for them, and are outlined below.
All votes placed online at stv.tv/greatestscot and by premium rate phone by the end of the voting period will be collated together to produce one overall vote count for each of the 35 candidates. The winner of the Greatest Scot will be the candidate from the 35 nominees that has collated the highest number of votes within the voting period. Votes made after the closing date and time will not be counted, and if charged will be refunded.

12. Voting costs are as advertised. Voters are liable for their costs to access telephone, mobile or computer networks.
13. STV reserves the absolute right to disqualify any votes which it considers to have been submitted using improper technical means.
14. stv.tv is available via digital signal UK-wide.
15. No third party entries, bulk entries or entries submitted by agents will be accepted.
16. Entries that are incomplete, defaced or damaged will be deemed invalid. No responsibility will be accepted for entries lost, delayed or damaged in submission.
