Hailing from France, the Bagad Cap Caval Pipe Band proved who was wearing the trousers in the Grade 1 category of the Cowal Pipe Band Championships.
They finished in 12th place in the Grade 1 competition. They were placed in 12th and 11th by the piping judges, 12th by the drumming judge and 10th for their ensemble performance.
For their march, strathspey and reel set they played The Highland Wedding, Tulloch Castle and Loch Carron.
Cap Caval is also the most successful Breton pipe band ever, both in Brittany and Scotland, taking part in the World Pipe Band Championships since 1996. They finished third in Grade 2 in 2004, sixth in 2006 and finally won the Worlds Grade 2 trophy last year.
The Cowal Highland Gathering took place in Dunoon at the weekend, and among other events there is the final major pipe band championship of the year.
As is traditional, after the results were announced many of the massed bands then paraded down Argyll Street as an impressive finale to the three-day gathering which attracts thousands of visitors to the area.
