The Cowal Highland Gathering took place in Dunoon yesterday and the entire event was headed up by the 2011 chieftain Blythe Duff, sporting a particularly funky take on the traditional Scottish kilt.
She told us about the fashion piece, which she described as “art to wear”.
“This is a Jilly Blackwood, who is a fantastic artist who is very Scottish” she said. “And she says that there is ‘art to wear’.”
“It takes quite a while for her to make and it is so beautifully made” she told us. “It took me forever to find something that is a wee bit funky.”
We asked Blythe what she enjoys about events like the Cowal Highland Gathering.
“I think sometimes it is important to go back to basics as far as what we’ve got in Scotland” she said. “We have an awful lot to offer and sometimes we forget it.”
