Plane piping: visitors given a warm welcome at Glasgow Airport

Piping Live! lands at Glasgow Airport

Visitors arriving through Glasgow Airport were given a warm Scottish welcome today as part of the 2011 Piping Live! festival.

The event has been taking place around Glasgow all of this week, and is set to continue until the day after the World Pipe Band Championships on Saturday 13th August at Glasgow Green.

This year's programme is the biggest ever, with 170 gigs happening at venues across Glasgow.  The programme runs from the early morning right through to the wee small hours and is a treat for everyone, whether they are a newcomer to the genre or old piping hands themselves.

Which is why these four ambassadors of the art spent the day piping in visitors at Glasgow Airport, no doubt hoping to entice a few more bodies to come and join the party.

And what better way to begin a holiday in Scotland: after their flights visitors could do much worse than coming along to witness the flying fingers on display in Glasgow this week.

Piping Live continues all week in venues around Glasgow. Check out all of our Piping Live! coverage here
