This year Piping Live! has been bigger than ever before, with 8,000 pipers and drummers taking part in over 170 events throughout the week.
Today saw the traditional Beat the Retreat as a selection of pipe bands took part in a massed march from the city’s Blythswood Square down to George Square, the site of many of the week’s daytime celebrations.
Bands from all around the world descended upon Glasgow for Piping Live! this week. Immediately following the event we spoke to bands from Winnipeg, Canada; Los Angeles; and of course, Scotland.
All the bands are gearing up for tomorrow’s World Pipe Band Championships on Glasgow Green. The competition is the largest event in the bagpiping calendar and every band will be hoping to place highly at this esteemed event.
