Pipers: European championship held in Forres for next three years.
More than 100 pipe bands from across Europe will descend on a Moray town.
Forres, in Moray, has been chosen to host the European Pipe Band Championship for three years, beginning in 2013.
The championship, which has been held in Belfast for the last three years, will see thousands of spectators and visitors travelling to the small town.
The competitions, to be held in Grant Park, is expected to pump around £1.2m into the local economy.
Ian Widdowson, Forres Communities Activities Association chairman, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing these championships to Forres.
"As well as the obvious economic benefits to the area, this world-class event will allow us to showcase our beautiful town and' enable locals and visitors alike to enjoy the very best in traditional pipe band music.
"It is great news for Forres and for the whole community, I am hoping that everyone can get involved."
Ian Embelton, chief executive of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, said: "The RSPBA was very impressed with the Forres bid to host the championships in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
"They put together a professional presentation and made a compelling case for the event to come to the north of Scotland. Forres is in for a treat."
The last Scottish town to host the event was Greenock.
