Yang Guang: The male panda can be seen online.
The giant pandas at Edinburgh Zoo can now be seen online after the Panda-cam went live.
Cameras have been set up in both enclosures, but only Yang Guang can be seen by members of the public online. Tian Tian, the female, can only be seen by members of the Royal Zoological Soceity of Scotland through a special web link.
It follows on from the success of penguin-cam which shows the zoo’s large colony of penguins. A record number of viewers logged on to the live stream in November last year to watch the animals play in the snow.
Jon-Paul Orsi, digital specialist at Edinburgh Zoo, said: “We were delighted to unveil Yang Guang and Tian Tian live on panda-cam.
“Our panda-cams allow people the world over to gain an extremely rare and fascinating insight into our pandas here at Edinburgh Zoo – providing audiences that may not be able to come along in person with a brilliant opportunity to see them and feel like they have had a part of the panda experience.”
The best time to see the pandas on the cameras is between 11am and 3pm. Since they arrived earlier this month, thousands of people have flocked to see the animals in their enclosure.
