Nicole Kidman: The actress with her The Railway Man co-star, Colin Firth.
Two of Edinburgh’s most famous residents received a special guest of their own when Holywood actress Nicole Kidman dropped by for a visit.
The Australian star brought her two daughters Sunday Rose and Faith to see pandas Sweetie and Sunshine during an impromptu visit to Edinburgh Zoo on Monday.
She snuck her family in to see the pair as regular guests before spending a couple of hours exploring the rest of the zoo’s enclosures.
The Oscar-winner is currently shooting in Edinburgh for forthcoming film The Railway Man alongside actor Colin Firth, before heading to Thailand and Australia.
They star in the true story of Eric Lomax, one of thousands of Allied prisoners of war forced to work on the construction of the Thai/Burma railway during the Second World War.
A spokeswoman for Edinburgh Zoo said: “I don’t think a lot of people noticed it was Nicole Kidman; she had her collar up and her hat on - she just wanted to spend some time with her family.
“It’s really lovely that she took the time out to see the pandas and it was nice that she brought her daughters along. They were very sleepy today and were having a snooze at the time.”
